Third annual ELLI Conference set for April 2-4

The Experiential Learning Leadership Institute (ELLI) will host its third annual conference April 2-4 at the Boling University Center at UT Martin and at Discovery Park of America in Union City.

ELLI is a nonprofit organization that promotes experiential learning in educational institutions and teaches educators how to implement this in the classroom.

“Vast amounts of educational research since the 1950s discuss the importance of providing ‘learning by doing’ experiences for students,” said Dr. Lajuan Davis, professor of information systems and co-chair of the ELLI planning committee.

The conference is open to educators and students at any level of education to learn more about experiential learning through panel discussions, presentations and hands-on activities that they get to participate in.

“The goal of the conference is to offer a setting in which educators and students from all over the region (or nation) can work together toward honing teaching and learning skills that include hands-on or experiential learning,” said Davis.

Events and sessions (with their locations) include:

• Tuesday, April 2: Early registration 3 to 6 p.m., Champions Club, Hardy M. Graham Stadium; criminal justice simulation, 4 to 7 p.m., Lawrence D. Bromley Training Center, C.E. Weldon Building, 100 Main St., downtown Martin.
