Education professors discuss travel study opportunities

Dr. Austin Ferrell (left), assistant professor of education, and Dr. Clinton Smith (right), professor of special education and chair of the Department of Educational Studies, shared information about travel study opportunities offered through their department when they collaborated to give a joint presentation for Kiwanis on Sept. 16.  Ferrell described his experiences in 2025 when he and three other professors took 25 students to Panama.  He described visiting classrooms in Panama, learning about different schools and learning about a different culture. Smith described a recent travel opportunity to Germany, where the group visited Berlin and Braunschweig to tour schools and historical sites. Smith echoed Ferrell’s enthusiasm for learning beyond the UT Martin campus and invited all present to join Skyhawks to see another part of the world. Kiwanian Jim Clark presented each of the professors with a certificate of appreciation showing that a donation will be made in their honor to Captain’s Pantry at UT Martin.
