Student Health and Counseling Services (SHCS), in partnership with the UT Martin Department of Nursing, is offering a viral screening clinic for UT Martin students experiencing cough or cold-like symptoms. The clinic is held outside SHCS at 609 Lee St. from 9 a.m. to noon, Monday and Friday. The clinic will not be held on Monday, Oct. 12, and Friday, Oct. 16 (fall break), and will be provided through Monday, Nov. 23.
Under the supervision of a clinical instructor, nursing students screen their peers for influenza A, influenza B, and COVID-19. The screening process includes a vital-sign assessment, a symptom and risk questionnaire and nasal-swab testing. The clinic expands SHCS’s clinical capacity, gives nursing students valuable hands-on experience interacting with their peers and provides UT Martin students with quick, convenient and free viral screening.
