The University of Tennessee at Martin tied for 32nd in the Regional Universities-South category in the U.S. News & World Report 2027 Best Colleges rankings released this week. The new rankings included 158 regional Southern universities. Universities are ranked by U.S. News based on performance across a set of widely accepted quality indicators.
In other U.S. News rankings in the Regional Universities-South category, UT Martin tied for 16th in the Top Public Schools category, finished alone in 15th place in Best Value for In-State Students, and was ranked 36th for Best Value Schools.
Also, in the Regional Universities-South category, UT Martin was 16th in Best Colleges for Veterans and 37th in Top Performers for Social Mobility, the category that considers Pell Grant graduation rates and Pell Grant graduation rate performance.
For online programs, UT Martin tied for 59th nationally in Best Online MBA Programs and 38th in Best Online MBA Programs for Veterans.

Final fall 2026 enrollment at UT Martin reached 8,253 students, the highest since 2010 and second-highest fall enrollment total in the university’s history. The total represented a 1.9% increase over the 8,101 students who enrolled in fall 2025. Increases in new graduate and dual enrollment students were among the enrollment highlights.
UT Martin is a primary campus in the University of Tennessee System, offering 23 bachelor’s degree programs that feature 142 specialized concentrations. The university offers eight graduate degrees that include 30 specialized concentrations.
In addition to the main campus and six regional centers in Jackson, Parsons, Ripley, Selmer, Somerville and Springfield in Middle Tennessee, UT Martin Online offers undergraduate and graduate degrees, including the online Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies degree for working adults.
UT Martin is listed as a Best Regional College by The Princeton Review for the 24th year and will celebrate its 100th year as part of the University of Tennessee System in 2027.
