The University of Tennessee at Martin Office of Student Life and Multicultural Affairs will host Greek Fest, a week-long celebration of UT Martin Greek life March 6-10 on the main campus. This week focuses on bringing current and alumni members of Greek life together to fellowship and serve the community.
The first opportunity for organizations to gain points began Feb. 23 at the UT Martin basketball doubleheaders. Organizations that attended the games earned five points for participating and five additional points if 50% or more of their chapter attended. The organizations will also be participating in a penny war, with the funds going toward the winning chapter’s philanthropy.
Greek Fest officially begins March 6 with “Make your mark Monday.” The Greek community is encouraged to wear their letters and attend the 9:45 p.m. showing of Creed III at Cine Theatres in Martin.
Chapters will gather for service night March 7 to help pack Narcan bags for the Weakley County Prevention Coalition. Participating members will earn hours toward their organization’s yearly overall service goals.
At 6 p.m., March 8, Dr. Diandra Renee will host the D.R.E.A.M. Workshop in Watkins Auditorium. Renee is a two-time TED Speaker and known for her advocacy for racial equality within families, education and storytelling.
Line dance will be held at 7 p.m., March 9, and the Step Show will be held at 7 p.m., March 10, both in the Skyhawk Fieldhouse. For each event, organizations will receive five points for participating with additional points awarded in each category. Third place will receive five additional points, second place will receive 10 additional points, and first place will receive 15 additional points. Line dance tickets are $5, Step Show tickets are $10, and both may be purchased via Event Brite. These events are open to the public.
