Dr. JAMYE LONG | Dr. COOPER JOHNSON

Dr. Jamye Long and Dr. Cooper Johnson, both professors of management, trained a group of industry professionals in methods and practices for advancing communication skills in a workplace environment.

Specifically, the training included topics such as utilizing emotional intelligence in various aspects of communication to propel one’s career to the executive level, strategies in limiting carbon copies to only those individuals who need to be included and the dangers of failing to do so, and showing how effective communications skills displays competence while declaring communication expertise without tangible results shows neediness and unprofessionalism.

The audience questions included the topics of coworkers with poor communication skills and no self-awareness, and the damage poor communication of organizational leaders has to company output, employee motivation and bottom-line reports.
