Four University of Tennessee at Martin alumni are being honored with awards during this week’s 2025 Homecoming celebration at the university.
The awards will be presented at the Chancellor’s Homecoming Brunch and Alumni Awards Program at 9:15 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 11, in the Paul Meek Library. The brunch and program are by invitation only.
Jacob Ross • Outstanding Young Alumni Award
Jacob Ross of Germantown will receive the Outstanding Young Alumni Award.
Ross graduated from UT Martin with a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing in 2011 and a Master of Business Administration degree in 2013. As a student, he served as president of Pi Sigma Epsilon marketing and sales fraternity and was a four-time Faculty Scholar. He was a member of the Dean’s Advisory Board and a Who’s Who in Marketing honoree.
Professionally, Ross has built a career in logistics technology, marketing and product leadership, currently serving as a product manager at IMC Logistics focusing on building digital tools that improve the supply chain experience for drivers and operators across the country.
He has previously worked at FedEx and The AroundCampus Group.
Ross serves as the West Tennessee Metro Administrator for Team Rubicon, a veteran-led humanitarian organization that supports communities before, during and after disasters. In this role, he coordinates disaster response efforts across 21 counties, working alongside emergency managers and regional voluntary organizations active in disaster partners.
Thus far this year, his team has responded locally to tornadoes, floods and severe weather events throughout Tennessee, Kentucky and Arkansas.
An active UT Martin alumnus, Ross has served as a president of the Young Alumni Council and on the Memphis Chapter Alumni Board. He and his wife, Sara, have two daughters, Hazel and Eloise.
Bill and Amy Rhodes • University Service Award
Bill and Amy Rhodes of Memphis will receive the University Service Award.
Bill graduated from UT Martin in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting, while Amy graduated in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science degree in communication.
Bill is the executive chairman of AutoZone, having joined the retailer in 1994. He held several positions before being selected as its chief executive office in 2005 at age 39, the youngest Fortune 500 CEO at the time.
During his 18-year tenure as CEO, Bill led AutoZone through significant growth and transformation, elevating it into the largest retailer of its kind in the Americas.
Amy was appointed to the Tennessee Arts Commission in 2018 and has been a community volunteer and board member in Memphis since 2002.
She serves on the Shelby Farms Park Conservancy board and the University of Tennessee Alliance of Women Philanthropists board. Before that, she served on the board of the Memphis Oral School for the Deaf, Christ Methodist Day School, St. Mary’s Episcopal School, the University of Memphis Advisory Board and the LeBonheur Children’s Hospital Advisory Board.
Amy previously served as a speech-language pathologist from 1993 to 2001, and was past president of Subsidium Inc., the fundraising arm of the Memphis Oral School for the Deaf.
Bill was inducted into the UT Martin Athletics Hall of Fame in 1993 and was selected as UT Martin’s Outstanding Young Alumnus in 2007. He serves as the Finance and Administration chair of the University of Tennessee Board of Trustees and is a member of the Regions Financial Corporation Board of Directors, the PGA Policy Board, and several civic boards.
Tymikia Glenn • Outstanding Alumni Award
Tymikia Glenn of Olive Branch, Mississippi, will receive the Outstanding Alumni Award. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in health and physical education in 2001.
Glenn was inducted into the UTM Athletics Hall of Fame in 2019 for her success in track and field. She held seven school records when she was inducted into the Hall of Fame, and her marks in the 400-meter hurdles and the triple jump still stand.
Glenn is the past-president of the UT Martin Alumni Council, which engages all UT Martin alumni to stay connected with the university. She is also the center director of the Georgette and Cato Johnson YMCA in the Memphis and Mid-South region.
Glenn was a national committee member of the Women’s Leadership Resource Network, where she championed initiatives to elevate women leaders across the nonprofit sector. She also served on the YMCA of the USA’s Association Assemblies Board and is a council member of the North American YMCA Development Organization (NAYDO) and an active NAYDO conference committee member. As a YMCA Leadership Academy mentor, she continues to guide and develop the next generation of nonprofit leaders.
Glenn is the treasurer of the Whitehaven Rotary Club and past president of the Rotary Club of Milan. She is a graduate of Gibson County Leadership.
Glenn is married to UTM alumnus Nicholas Glenn, and they have three sons, Terrick, Nathanael and Jonathan, who is attending UT Martin.
