Finalists selected for dean of UTM College of Business and Global Affairs

Three finalists have been selected to interview for the dean of the University of Tennessee at Martin College of Business and Global Affairs. Each candidate will visit the main campus for interviews and public-engagement sessions scheduled for Nov. 3, 4 and 5.

The public forums will be held starting at 1:30 p.m. each day in Watkins Auditorium, located in the Ed and Carolyn Boling University Center. To respect individual privacy, finalists names and biographical information will be shared 24 hours before each candidate’s forum session.

All forums will be recorded and made available online following the conclusion of the final session. Feedback opportunities for each candidate will be provided once the interviews begin.

The successful candidate will lead the college’s AACSB-accredited programs, including accounting, economics, finance, marketing, management and information systems. The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business accreditation represents the highest standard of achievement for business schools worldwide, held by 6% of business programs globally.

This leadership opportunity comes as the university has secured approval and funding to construct a new state-of-the-art Business Administration Building, with completion expected in 2030. The previous dean was Dr. Ahmad Tootoonchi, who retired earlier this year. Dr. Joey Mehlhorn, dean of graduate studies and professor of agriculture, is serving as interim dean during the search.

The position is expected to be filled by the end of 2025.

UT Martin is a primary regional campus in the University of Tennessee System offering 23 undergraduate degree programs that include 142 specialized concentrations and eight graduate degrees featuring 30 specialized concentrations. In addition to the main campus, the university has six regional centers in Jackson, Parsons, Selmer, Ripley, Somerville and Springfield. UT Martin Online offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees, including the online Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies degree for working adults.
