FAFSA for 2025-26 school year is now open

Application for the 2025-26 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is now open, and students wanting to garner financial aid for college are encouraged to sign up early.

Application for the FAFSA is required every year to remain eligible for most types of college aid, including grants, loans, Federal Work-Study and the HOPE/Lottery Scholarship.

Students should file for FAFSA early to receive the maximum amount of financial aid.

The 2025-26 FAFSA determines the amount of financial aid eligibility for the fall 2025, spring 2026 and summer 2026 terms.

For a list of items you need to complete the FAFSA, professional tips for a successful submission and next steps after the FAFSA is filed, go to www.utm.edu/financialaid and click on “2025-26 FAFSA.”

Amy Mistrick, interim director for student aid and scholarships, said her office can help students go through the FAFSA process.

“We are here to help answer any questions or help you complete your FAFSA in our office,” she said.

FAFSA opened Nov. 21, several days before the expected Dec. 1 opening date.
