UT Martin now has an exclusive lounge for students to get their e-game on.
Located in Room 108 of the Boling University Center, the e-gaming space provides several games to choose from on the gaming PCs. The space is open daily from 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and reserved each Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 5 to 8:30 p.m. for the Gamer Hawks student organization.
“Several titles have already been downloaded, but students can log into online gaming options they have personally purchased,” said John Abel, the assistant vice chancellor for student affairs.
Available games include Apex Legends, Counter-Strike 2, Paladins, Dota 2, Fortnite, Rocket League and Fall Guys, said to Olivia Fernandez, direction of information technology services, who played a role in developing the space.
“On PlayStation and Xbox, we have purchased several popular titles, including Madden 24, 2K24 Basketball, FortNite, Jack Pack Party Games, FIFA Soccer, Tekken 8, Final Fantasy and Spiderman 2,” Abel said.
“The space is for UTM students only. Card-swipe access to the space will be added soon.”
The space also has a tabletop console with classic arcade games including Pac-Man, Galaga and Donkey Kong.
The e-gaming space was made possible through a partnership between the Division of Student Affairs and the Office of Information Technology Services, with consultation with Dell and Spaces furniture.
The UT Martin Physical Plant has also played a pivotal role in prepping the space with paint, carpet and electrical needs, Abel said.
