Working Women’s Conference set for Feb. 9

The University of Tennessee at Martin’s WestStar Leadership Program will host the 26th Working Women’s Conference from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 9, in the Boling University Center’s Duncan Ballroom on the UT Martin main campus. The $50 registration fee includes a continental breakfast and lunch.

This year’s conference theme is “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” and will feature sessions covering personal and professional development. The event’s speakers will include Marianne Dunavant, government relations manager for BlueOval City, who will talk about “Empowering Women,” and Angela Martin who will speak on “The Power of Choice.”  Martin works with Regions Bank and is a motivational speaker.

Additional conference speakers will include Dr. Cheryl Browne, a retired physician, WestStar Board of Trustees member and WestStar graduate from Fayette County, who will present “The Way You Make Me Feel”; Sharron Murden, northwest district manager, CB&S Bank in Bolivar, and Christy Williams, branch manager, Regions Bank in McKenzie, both WestStar graduates, who will present “She Works Hard for the Money”; Merry Brown, Third Party Workplace Conflict Restoration Services, LLC, who will present “Goodbye Gossip Queen: Turning the Page on 80’s Pettiness”; Shelby Matthis, owner, 9Round Kickboxing Fitness in Jackson and a WestStar graduate, will present “Let’s Get Physical”; and Suzanne Harper and Courtney Echols of Martin, owners of Extra Credit Team Solutions, will present “I See Your True Colors.” To register for the conference, visit www.utm.edu/weststar and select the “conferences and events” tab.
