WestStar Leadership Class to graduate June 20 at UT Martin

The University of Tennessee at Martin’s WestStar Leadership Program will graduate its 2023 class Tuesday, June 20, in the Boling University Center’s Duncan Ballroom. A 5:30 p.m. reception will be followed by dinner at 6, and the graduation ceremony will conclude the program. Including this year’s class, the program will have graduated 946 participants since WestStar was established in 1989.

WestStar’s 33rd graduating class includes 29 members from 17 West Tennessee counties. Each WestStar class is chosen annually by the program’s board of trustees. Selection is based on individual leadership achievements and potential to contribute to West Tennessee’s development. Class members are selected from all occupations and levels of community and regional involvement. Each class member completes eight sessions that cover topics such as agriculture and transportation, energy and environment, public policy issues, education and tourism.

In addition to recognizing graduates, several awards will be presented during the program, including the C.P. Boyd Leadership Award chosen by the class and the Jimmy Daniel Make-A-Difference WestStar Leadership Alumni Award. Two scholarships will also be presented to UT Martin students: the Nick Dunagan Leadership Scholarship will go to a sophomore who is a dependent, niece or nephew of a WestStar alumnus and the RisingStar Scholarship to an incoming first-year student.

Information about the program is available by calling the WestStar Leadership Program at 731-881-7298.
