A Voter Registration Tailgate event to register Tennessee voters will be held 3-6 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 11, at Hardy M. Graham Stadium on the University of Tennessee at Martin main campus. The event supports National Voter Registration Month throughout September and is sponsored by the Office of Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett and the university’s Student Government Association. The tailgate also coincides with UT Martin’s Family Weekend Tailgate Party, which includes the Skyhawk football home opener with Samford University at 6 p.m. Anyone who needs to register to vote can do so at the tailgate.
“The Voter Registration Tailgate is an excellent opportunity for all Skyhawk fans to take advantage of how easy it is to register to vote in Tennessee, so they are ready to make their voice heard on Election Day. We are grateful to Dr. (Keith) Carver (UT Martin chancellor) and the entire Skyhawk Nation for welcoming us.”
“We are pumped to work with UT Martin student leaders to build momentum around voting,” Hargett said. “The Voter Registration Tailgate is an excellent opportunity for all Skyhawk fans to take advantage of how easy it is to register to vote in Tennessee, so they are ready to make their voice heard on Election Day. Elections for local and statewide office are happening in 2022, and last year Tennesseans broke voter turnout and participation records. Election experts will attend the tailgate to answer questions about Tennessee’s easy voting process.
