Dr. Erik Nordberg has been named the dean of the University of Tennessee at Martin Paul Meek Library.
Nordberg is joining UT Martin from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where he served as dean of the libraries. He earned his doctorate in industrial heritage and archaeology from Michigan Technological University, a master’s degree in library science from Wayne State University, a master’s degree in Anglo-Irish literature from Trinity College, and a bachelor’s degree in humanities from the University of Ulster. Nordberg has also worked at Wayne State University and Michigan Tech in various library leadership roles and served as the executive director of the Michigan Humanities Council.
“I feel very fortunate to be here, and I’m excited to get started,” Nordberg said. “There is such a sense of pride in what is happening on this campus and a sincere belief by everybody from top to bottom in the mission of engaging and transforming our students. I’m impressed by the high level of academic quality and the excitement about where UTM is heading.”
Nordberg found his interest in archives and libraries while completing his undergraduate degree and has worked in academic libraries for 25 years. He says he is excited to help contribute to the Paul Meek Library’s dedication to serving students in their academic pursuits and intellectual transformation.
