Dr. Laura Brown is spring Featured Faculty Scholar

Dr. Laura Brown, a professor in the University of Tennessee at Martin’s Department of Health and Human Performance, is the university’s Featured Faculty Scholar for the spring 2019 semester. Examples of her academic research will be on display in the Paul Meek Library for the next several months.

The Featured Faculty Scholar award, instituted during the 1996-97 academic year by the UT Martin Academic Council, is designed to recognize faculty members whose research and creative works are judged to be among the most prestigious of those produced by individuals at UT Martin.

Brown, of Martin, began her UT Martin career in 1995 as coordinator of aquatics and fitness. She worked her way through the academic ranks and was promoted to full professor in 2015. Brown holds a bachelor’s degree from UT Martin and a master’s degree from Murray State University. She also holds both education specialist and education doctoral degrees from Union University.

Brown has received the 2018 Pinnacle Award from the UT Martin College of Education, Health and Behavioral Sciences and was the AOPi Teacher of the Month in September 2017. She is also a recipient of the UT Alumni Outstanding Teacher Award (2015), among others.

A reception was held in her honor March 11 in the Paul Meek Library to recognize her academic and professional accomplishments. For more information, contact Brown at 731-881-7334 or lbrown@utm.edu.
